What is new at Spaces Summit 2025?

Spaces Summit started as bol’s very own internal tech conference — created for colleagues, by colleagues. It is a full day dedicated to inspiration, innovation, and knowledge sharing, but above all, it’s about strengthening our community.

A new chapter

In 2025, we will celebrate the 9th edition of Spaces Summit, and it is going to be our biggest edition ever. The story began with a group of software engineers who noticed that bol’s IT department was growing rapidly, so fast that it became hard to keep track of all the cool stuff happening. Their solution? Spaces Summit. The very first edition took place at bol’s headquarters and since then, we have grown intensely:

• The first edition on an external location - Theater De Kom in Nieuwegein
• Adapted during covid with fully online editions
• Followed by editions at DeFabrique and Het Spoorwegmuseum

This year, we are returning to DeFabrique, but with an exciting twist: for the first time, we are bringing together the entire Product & Tech (P&T) department! We are thrilled to broaden the community and welcome all our P&T colleagues to be part of this special day.

What makes Spaces Summit so unique?

At Spaces Summit, the spotlight is on our own people. We invite the P&T community to submit abstracts, this can vary from tech deep dives and product insights to personal stories, workshops, or bold experiments. If it sparks curiosity or passion, it belongs on the stage. Once submissions are in, it is up to the whole P&T community to vote for the talks they want to see come to life at the conference. This results in a program that is 100% community-driven, and it is amazing to watch our colleagues bring their ideas to the stage. We are not aiming for perfectly polished TED Talks. We want real people sharing real stories — and that is what makes Spaces Summit so unique.
